Handmade Byzantine Icon with the Nativity of Jesus Christ in a cave in Bethlehem.
In the icon we can see the Divine Infant wrapped in swaddling clothes in the center while around him there are various familiar figures of Christianity such as Virgin Mary, Joseph, the Three Wise Men and Orders of Angels.
Nativity icons tell the story of Christ’s birth, as found in the Scriptures and the Holy Tradition. Like most festal icons, the Nativity icon is not only a mere historical record of Christ’s birth but also a reflection of the theological meaning of the feast. The mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God, who empty Himself of His almighty glory and accepted a human flesh for the salvation of the world, is the main focus of the feast.
The Icon with the Nativity of Jesus Christ is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is made with devotion and respect by experienced craftsmen of the Christian tradition.
The Icon is created using the technique of gold printing while its background consists of hagiographic leaves of 22 carat gold which are applied in detail.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
