Description

Handmade Byzantine Icon of the Descent of Jesus Christ from the Cross after His Crucifixion and the Lamentation by his family and disciples.

Joseph of Arimathea, a hidden disciple of Jesus Christ, after receiving permission from Pilate to take down the dead body of Jesus Christ from the cross, wrapped it in a clean sheet and placed it in an empty tomb which he sealed with a large stone.

The icon of the Descent from the Cross is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.

During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.

It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
