Description

Aged Wooden Byzantine Icon of Panagia Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The miraculous Icon of Panagia Our Lady of Perpetual Help is located in the Holy Monastery of Koutloumousiou on Mount Athos. It was transported there, since it was the only object that was saved from a big fire that completely destroyed a metochi of the Monastery in Crete.

The Icon of Panagia continues to perform its miracles from the Templon of the Catholic chapel and on the Tuesday of Diakainisimi Week it is taken in procession from the monastery to the Protato, where it repays the visit of "Axion Estin", made on the day before in Koutloumoussi.

Prayer to Our Lady Of Perpetual Help

O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke Thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O Purest Mary, O Sweetest Mary, let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.

Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the image a distinctive appearance.

During the final processing, the icon is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.

Note: The final icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
