Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Onouphrios.
Saint Onouphrios was originally from Persia but lived most of his years in Egypt. From a young age, his devotion to God was great and for this reason he joined a commune in Thebaid, Egypt, while later he wandered alone in the desert, with minimal clothing and meager food.
When Paphnutius met him, Saint Onouphrios revealed to him that he was going to die and that God had sent him to bury him, as it happened. After Paphnutius buried him in the cave where Osios was an ascetic, the rock fell and a palm tree grew in its place.
Since then, Saint Onouphrios is remembered for his strict ascetic life.
Apolytikion of Saint Onouphrios of Egypt
First Tone
Thou didst prove to be a citizen of the desert, an angel in the flesh, and a wonderworker, O Onuphrius, our God-bearing Father. By fasting, vigil, and prayer thou didst obtain heavenly gifts, and thou healest the sick and the souls of them that have recourse to thee with faith. Glory to Him that hath given thee strength. Glory to Him that hath crowned thee. Glory to Him that worketh healings for all through thee.
The Icon of Saint Onouphrios is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
