Description

Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of the Ascension of Jesus Chris t as it happened on the Mount of Olives.

Accοrding to the New Testament, the Ascension took place in the presence of the eleven disciples of Jesus Christ who saw Him ascend to Heaven forty days after his Resurrection.

Apolytikion

O Christ our God, You ascended in Glory and gladdened Your disciples by the promise of the Holy Spirit. Your blessing assured them that You are the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.

Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.

During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of the Ascension of Jesus Chris t is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.

Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
